Counter ASIC 4.0 research: the identity that forbids a zero-premium chip lever, the ranked designs, and the SM-sparse worker variant
...
docs/analysis/counter-asic-4-research.md (excluded from the public export): edge = (E_card + F) / (E_mem + k F); at zero premium the stored-dataset chip keeps E_card / E_mem, 3.6x on a 5090 locked at 1,400 MHz (measured card, modelled chip), about 2x at that card's idle-plus-memory bound, 1.7x on the M5 Max; class v5 at zero shadow leaves it at 5.1x to 9.1x; the shadow buys 2.1x at k = 1 for the measured 88 W (81.8 W at the knee) and turns against us below 1.8 pJ per op; per-card classes, the refresh as a cost, proof of useful work, memory shaping and the tensor block priced out with their arithmetic; ten designs ranked with the chip edge, the 5090 and 4070 premiums, the verifier cost, agent hours and what breaks each; the recommendation in five sentences; consequences per tier.
proto-cuda/nvrtc/worker.cpp: opt-in SM-sparse variants sp<N> and sp<N>-w<W> (a persistent grid of N blocks of W warps over the dispatch's nonces; the bound kernel rewritten at compile time with exact anchors into a unit function plus a wrapper of the kernel's name; made on demand by name, never in the default race; refused on variant-5 packs and with minBlocks). Gate: mingw cross-compile on igneum-build-1 under lease pool (class measure, label "ca4 research"), exit 0 with -Wall -Wextra, 22:48 UTC; exe sha256 ee8d0e70dd101f125f42c0c7cf07481a794ee18a1317acf68561b37ea18d72be; unrun on a card (the hash lane's PC 1 job run-ca4-pc1-ca4sparse-5090-20261007 is its first run).

Igneum Wallet: the Windows build chain (8 October 2026, main's order after 0.1.6: a Windows arm by the wallet's next OTA, PC 2 by job when it is back). The pieces, the miner's chain step for step with the wallet's names: packaging/windows/push-build-inputs.sh --wallet packs app/igneum-wallet and app/igneum-common into the build-inputs zip with vendor/igneum-node as a symlink to node/ (the wallet links the node's rpc crates by that path; unzip restores it inside the distro) and adds the build unit {app/igneum-wallet, igneum-wallet, windows} with its tests, so the PC's build job makes igneum-wallet.exe on the gnu target as it makes igneum-app.exe; packaging/windows/push-wallet-kit.sh publishes the kit zip (the host sources and BUILD-WALLET-APP.bat, build-installer.ps1, Igneum-Wallet.iss, stop-igneum-wallet.ps1, the icons, the wallet's packaged igneum-wallet.json from the token file) to the downloads host; relay/playbooks/wallet-kit-pc2.ps1 is the run job on PC 2: the host through BUILD-WALLET-APP.bat (MSVC, WebView2 SDK), the payload from the build job's engine and the node pin, the installer through build-installer.ps1 -Product wallet (Inno, rcedit), the smoke run with the host's version block, and, over a running older wallet, the installer end to end with the installed version read back (rule 14), every output dropped on the relay with its sha256; packaging/windows/build-installer.ps1 takes -Product miner|wallet (folder, engine, stop script, exes, .iss, setup name, the version-block stamping by product); packaging/windows/Igneum-Wallet.iss is rebuilt on release-0.3.25's detach-safe miner shape (install-close-23 and install-detach-25: the payload's own stop script with -Install, the install marker under igneum\wallet, the one-shot detached task under the app's job runner, the version-named file refusal, the stale-marker clear) with the wallet's names; packaging/windows/stop-igneum-wallet.ps1 is the miner's 0.3.23 stop script for the wallet (the host first by path, the engine through its API, the unlock wait with the STILL LOCKED line); make-wallet-payload.sh is the Mac-side payload maker for a hand build. release-0.3.25's installer-stop-check passes on the wallet pair (every rule holds); the check itself stays on the release line, whose miner installer carries the shape master's does not yet. Signing: as the miner's, deferred until the certificates exist (release-0.3.20 section 2.4). Untested on a PC until PC 2 returns: the first run is the known-failed run by design.

Kill-proof gates (main's order, 8 October 2026, 12:5x UK): a unique process title and a pid file per gate and merge run; kills by pid file only, enforced by the kill-by-name check
...
Twice today a merge gate died to signal 15 from another lane's kill pattern (12:4x UK, and the three-node script's self-kill at 10:05 was the same class). The sender cannot be read after the fact (no process accounting on the Mac, nothing in the unified log, a trap sees no sender), so the class is closed by rule: tools/ci/pre-push.sh re-execs under the title igneum-gate:<pid>-<start> and writes "<pid> <start> <mode> <title>" to .git/igneum-gate.pid under the worktree (removed at exit); tools/ci/merge-to-master.sh the same with igneum-merge:<pid>-<start> and .git/igneum-merge.pid; a gate or a merge run is stopped by `kill "$(cut -d' ' -f1 <that file>)"` and never by a name. tools/ci/kill-by-name-check.sh rule 4 (in the gate on every push): killall with any pattern, and pkill/pgrep (with or without -f or -x, bracketed or not) on a generic tool or a gate's name (bash, sh, zsh, node, cargo, python, ssh, git, perl, gate, igneum, pre-push, merge-to-master, build-remote, remote-run, igneum-gate, igneum-merge) are red; pkill -F <pidfile>, pkill -P <pid> and a daemon's own binary under -x stay allowed. Known-failed first: eight new banned shapes and four allowed ones in the self-test; the gate's self-test holds a gate open and reads its title and pid file, then sees the file gone.
